Street Fighter III: New Generation (1997): Stopping Gill's Resurrections | Capcom Quest #187

If Alex was a Shotokan, would he be more popular? Capcom Quest of Street Fighter III: New Generation! The first version of the classic parrys.

Yeah I know, the game sold poorly because Capcom probably didn't put character "X". But we have to admit that the company was free to take that risk.

I say this because in 96 and 97 Capcom launched 14 fighting games, most of which had good sales. Of course, they could risk it.

SF III is divided into three games, with the latest update having a new story. I decided to beat with 8 characters in this episode, 7 in the second and everyone in the third!

By far, this is the most competitive game yet. No more pressing several jabs and using any special attack. Here footsies are much more important than combos.

Each character has 3 specials, but this time only one can be used in the fight. There are also differences in the bars' size.

For the first time, dash and super jump were added in main series. And we still have the "leap attack", a universal overhead made with 2x low + punch.

And of course, the feature that would lead FGC to crazy in the future. Parry is very beautiful to see, but having a reaction to perform at the exact timing is only for the masters xD

Of the 8 characters that I played, my favorites were Ibuki and Dudley. I think they both have very good space control, but Ibuki wins by having more resources.

I'm not good with grappler so I got bad with Alex. In fact, even though he was the protagonist, Ryu was still the most chosen. lol

The CPU is pretty nice until you get to Gill. In addition to his damage being broken, if he make a bar, Resurrection is certain in this version! But I ended up winning him (after 500 deaths) using super jumps + sweep.

Gill is bicolor just to demonstrate the power of CPS III. From here, sprites are no longer mirrored...

I have to let this image here! Best way to catch a ride, Hahhahahaha

Did you also think this was Chris?
