Red Earth (1996): The debut of CPS III with Fight and RPG | Capcom Quest #181

Was this one the Darkstalkers' successor? Capcom Quest of Red Earth! The mix of RPG and Fighting Game in the beautiful CPS III graphics.

Nothing personal, but there could be more playable characters, huh Capcom?

If this game had been successful, it would have received ports with new playable characters. But in a year with SF Alpha 2 and X-Men vs. SF, it was hard to compete.

There is nothing to complain about the graphics, that was the pinnacle of pixel art. There are so many animations per frame that you can't see everything on the first playthrough...

The game has only 4 playable characters, but each has two endings, with the exception of Leo who has the real end if you finish with only 1 coin!

RPG mechanics refers to gaining experience. The more enemies you kill, the more level you gain and new skills will emerge.

It's impossible to reach max level (32) just playing arcade mode, but you can use a password to get! But the enemies will also be overpowered xD

Leo was the character I liked least, he doesn't have many features like projectiles and upper cuts. The only advantage I saw in him was being able to choose weapons at their maximum level...

Tessa is certainly the one that most fits the Darkstalkers universe, isn't she? And her strong point is her projectiles.

Kenji is the opposite of Leo. At maximum level he has special attacks with any command whatsoever! I don't even know what to do with so many options. lol

But my favorite character was Mai Ling. She is fast and has devastating attacks with her kicks, be it command grab, upper cut, a fire jaguar kick... Man, this one is too Top Tier!

The game's difficulty is very high, you will spend some coins until you get used to it. Aside from being a Survival mode, your HP does not fully recover after a battle.

It's just a shame the cruel fate that this game had. Well, this is an IP with all the rights reserved to Capcom, who knows, one day it might decide to bring it back?
