I almost didn't play this gem. Capcom Quest of PrideGP Grand Prix 2003! The year that Capcom sponsored an MMA event.
If it wasn't for a tweet I wouldn't know about this game.
During 1997 until 2007 there was a world MMA tournament organized by Japanese Dream Stage Entertainment called Pride Fighting Championships! And in 2003 Capcom was there as a sponsor.
With the trademark rights, it's clear that the well-known fighting game publisher would make a game of this event. And they did a great job!
I was never a big fan of MMA games, because I preferred to play classic fighting games. But I have to admit that everything here works very well.
The roster is huge, with big names in the MMA scene (it even has some unlockables).
I thought that all fighters had the same status and attacks, quite the opposite, here are characters with unique characteristics. A good example is Russian Fedor Vladimirovich (Inspiration from Abel from SFIV) who's a beast with grabs as in real life.
I really enjoyed playing with Anderson SPIDER Silva, the MONSTER of kicks in the face! Every time he hits one, the opponent loses their mind.
The game also has presentations telling a little about the career/characteristics of each fighter! Awesome.
And to finish this review, you can even create your very unbalanced character and win rounds in seconds with several punches in the face. I recommend it!
