Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (2002): Rising to the sky | Capcom Quest #295

This game would be so short if had another combat system. Capcom Quest of Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter! The fifth and controversial episode.

Surely Capcom already knew that this game was for few ones. Besides being very hard, few things are related to the franchise.

A lot of people probably given up playing just for the combat system. It's strategic, it consumes AP just by walking and the characters are very weak. Not even using the "+10% combos" system makes it easy...

Not enough, the game has a reset system "SOL", doing this you start the game from scratch but with equipment and level that was. And of course, it increases your D-Ratio.

D-Ratio, in addition to showing status and strength, is also the chance you have to fuse with a dragon, which doesn't mean much as Odjin will link with you because of the plot. But the higher your D-Ratio the more new areas and GCs will appear.

I think the biggest mistake regarding D-Ratio is not having an extra or extended ending when you get to 1/4 (highest level you can reach). The NPCs also continue to treat you as if you were a "Low-D", pretty funny.

The plot tells that a great war happened where Dragons were used, the results were so catastrophic that it left the surface uninhabitable, making civilization go underground.

Years later, clones of these dragons (Odjn, Chetyre and Dover) were created to be fused with strong warriors and thus have a chance to return to the surface. Clones are considered as D-Ratio 1/2, that is, the originals were 1/1.

More years passed and the Regents emerged, a class of warriors with a high D-Ratio who decided to rule the underground and prevent civilization from returning to the surface (probably to continue to rule the "world").

Elyon was Odjin's first choice, he even defeated all the Regents but gave up on going to the surface thinking he was being controlled by the dragon. Thanks to this, he becomes the new leader of the Regents and prevents several chosen ones.

And so Ryu with his D-Ratio 1/8192 meets Nina and Lin and discovers that Nina is dying from underground pollution, making his mission to reach the surface. There's Boch too... He's just a loser who forces himself to be "linked" to Chetyre for not beating Ryu.

As I said before, everything here is very demanding, get ready to buy hundreds of potions because there are no INNs and save points are scarce! Plus you need an NPC to equip new items.

Things get pretty easy when you use D-Dive, the Dragon transformation. But if the percentage reaches 100% you die! To be honest, I think I could use it about 5x and I beat the game at 92%.

Finally, the game is short, very linear and what increases its duration A LOT are the slow and long fights. There's even ONE side quest which is to face Dover, but that's it. It's really not my style game.

GO FOR BROKE!!!!!
