El Dorado Gate (2000): The Fable of the 12 Guardians | Capcom Quest #254

Why this beautiful game have these bizarre battles images? Capcom Quest of El Dorado Gate! Capcom's legendary 7CD RPG released exclusively in Japan.

I have to be honest, I don't think there will be such a long rpg for the rest of this project... Even more in Japanese.

El Dorado Gate had a bimonthly release between 2000 and 2001, with each CD having 3 or 2 episodes (those with 2 episodes have the same duration as 3).

As I understand the story, the game tells about 12 warriors who have connections with 12 ancestor spirits, these were the guardians of El Dorado and helped in Rajin's fight against Dios.

In total there are 18 episodes, 12 of which are carried out by each of the guardians, solving the most varied problems. The other 6 are focused on the main plot, which probably is something around saving the world.

The pixel art work here is wonderful, as beautiful as Breath of Fire. Sure a lot of people wanted to play this game for being cute but gave up because of the Japanese.

But the arts of Yoshitaka Amano is not that good, I am definitely not the target audience of this artist. C’mon Capcom, the artist could have been Akiman, Nishimura, Ikeno, Bengus or even Shinkiro who had just arrived at the company...

All equipment and spells have elements, whether grass, fire, water or light. And as you can imagine, one element has an advantage over the other (only light is neutral).

You can even use an npc to change the element of your equipment, but honestly, you won't always have his help. The best strategy is to farm lots of money and buy the same equipment with different elements.

And it’s so boring, you have to know what you are going to face before to equip the right elements, otherwise you will receive critical damage.

About the spells, they can be fused to increase the intensity of their use, but not all characters have this ability.

Anyway, after several memes and mysteries at the end there is a plot twist where you face Dios (who looks like Santa Claus) and discover that Rajin was always the good guy in the story. And so the world was saved ... well at least that's what I think xD

It's cool in someway...
