Metal Walker (1999): Gotta Catch 'Em All Core Units | Capcom Quest #233

I had never seen an RPG with Snooker combat mechanics. Capcom Quest of Metal Walker. Many encounters and transformations in the last Capcom game of the 90s!

My God, the developers mess the encounters/battles in this game! It seems that the game is set in a Pokémon dungeon with a lot of Zubats making you mad...

The story takes place on an island where a rare metal called Core was found and used by the military to create weapons.

However, an accident happened and the island was devastated, causing the Core to split into several units. Now, 50 years later, you have a mission to find these fragments and also your missing father.

But of course you will need the help of a Metal Walker partner! These robots have the ability to evolve with the help of Core Units, yours is called Meta Ball.

The biggest compliment I can give is the combat mechanic! It's really great and works for a turn-based rpg. You have to direct the Meta Ball and launch towards the enemy, it works like a pool table.

You can also launch items on the battlefield to help in the fight! These items are diverse, from HP to special attacks that take a lot of damage.

The game is short for an rpg, but the excess of random encounters/battles on the map practically doubles the game's duration. And that makes the gameplay sooooo tiring, unfortunately...

Another thing that they abuse, but it doesn't get in the way, is the transformations! I have no idea how many shapes Meta Ball has achieved throughout the game, but I certainly haven't used even half of them.

And that's it! It is a shame this excess of encounters in the game because the rest it's great.

Let the 2000s begin
