Why so much name change from Japanese to American? Capcom Quest of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge. A much easier CPU version.
The fact that Capcom named Vampire Savior as Darkstalkers 3 in the west means that it considers Revenge the second episode. But honestly it looks more like an upgrade.
As much as there are changes in gameplay, the story itself is the same, the endings of the characters don't change, and the villain remains Pyron. That even he and Phobos/Huitzil are playable in this version.
The biggest change are the specials. Now to use them you have to press two attack buttons and you are no longer forced to make a special when the bar fills, even haven't timeouts to use it. All characters also gained a new one.
I also felt a much easier to do combos! If you are marching jabs and/or shorts you will definitely get something, especially if you link with other normals...
Another new feature is to being able to attack the enemy on the ground by pressing up and medium kick. It's not that easy to hit, but using it on "ex" does considerable damage.
Donovan and Lei Lei/Hsien-Ko also made their debut here, both on the good side of the franchise lore..
And finally, balancing. 1995 was when Capcom made the CPU easier in its fighting games, besides has hard enemies, most are normal (neither difficult nor easy). Thank God
Fun Fact: For some reason Rikuo only has access to the special "Direct Scissors" using his original color. Never seen it before o.O
