Mega Man: The Wily Wars (1994): The Classic Trilogy in 16-bit! | Capcom Quest #140

Just imagine how crazy it was to download games in 1994! Capcom Quest of Mega Man: The Wily Wars, the Blue Bomber remake made exclusively for SEGA's console!

I'll be honest with you, I NEVER like 100% remakes. But in this case here is fair, after all is the debut of Mega Man at SEGA, and still has a very nice extra!

The experience is similar but not identical to NES. Mega Man's walk is a bit stuck and some bosses have been buffed, like Cutman's hp, and other nerfed, like Heat Man's speed.

In addition to 16-bit updated graphics, many stages have some background changes, such as Cutman's which was an open stage and here is closed.

I have nothing more to say about these three remakes, anyone who had ever played the NES trilogy had a very similar experience.

The good thing is that Capcom created the Wily Tower, which are 3 unpublished stages, each one with its respective boss (inspired on the book Journey to the West) and 3 other stages in a new castle of the scientist!

In this episode you can choose any weapon / item you got from the three games in the collection. The stages has new parts but also merge parts from previous games.

It's a very interesting extra, and that's why I approved this collection. Not only can you play the classics with new graphics, you'll also have a new challenge!

In 1994 SEGA launched the Sega Channel, a Genesis adapter for downloading games. Yeah, imagine the speed!!! And the debut of Mega Man was one of the reasons to buy this device... At least in the US.

The physical versions of this game were only released in Japan and Europe, and for some reason the conversion to PAL of the European version made the game run at 50Hz instead of 60Hz. And believe me, that makes a LOT of difference.

So here's a tip, play the American or Japanese version!
