I never thought the hundredth episode from this challenge would be a game so F**K like this! Capcom Quest of Mega Man 3 DOS. That's right, they didn't make a 2.
According to Hi-Tech Expressions (dev and publisher of the game) the reason they skipped the 2 to 3 was because of Bit Man, which was inspired by the unused Robot Master from the official American cover of Mega Man 3 Nes (which is the same as the DOS version).
Emulating this game is a huge problem! First of all the gamepads doesn't work so well, which makes Mega Man just run forward as crazy! And secondly it seems that the game runs at 200 fps. Thanks to the Retro Arch there is an option that limits frames...
All stages were made for you get lost! They build every single point of this labyrinth just for you enjoy every second from this hell created by paint! And the enemies are the best part, especially those who throws lasers at the speed of light.
There are also the bosses that all uses the same standard attacks, just jumping on you and sometimes shooting with their weapons! They were the easiest Robot Masters that I've ever faced in this challenge.
Still about the Robot Masters, their photos are modified versions from another bosses already created in the series! So much creativity here...
Another AWESOME detail, is that when you win a boss shows the Mega Memes with a new color from the weapon, but on gameplay the color continues the same..
But the worst of all is that I need to compliment this work, yeah you read right. Like the previous one (that has intro stage) this game also created a feature that would be used in the future of series! This time you can swim! Skill that only was introduced years latter in Mega Man 8.
I really thought that I would beat this game faster than the first one, until I reached the final stage! I must have spend more than an hour in this hell, where you have to face a boss rush and several parts where you die if fall.
I'd like to speak specifically about this Goddamn part. I can not believe the devs made this, but I've proven on the stream that in some platforms the game increases the fps to induce you to fall and start all over again!! Not to mention there are three parts like these!
One thing that got me MAD was that I farmed E-tanks for the whole game, only to use it in the final boss (I had already anticipated the suffering). And guess what, they disappear after clear a stage!! Lucky that some BLESSED soul left one hidden in the last stage.
After facing all the 6 Robot Masters, you have to beat a sub boss that remember the Willy's machine from the first game, and after that comes Willy, who I honestly don't even know what to say!
Beating this crap is FINALLY game over! It's unbelievable but the devs used the same screen from the first version, they not even corrected the Willy's name. I'm still impressed that Capcom allowed the production of this SEQUENCE.
