Do you remember those bundles that came with 3 games in 1? That's right, Capcom Quest of Three Wonders, two of the most beautiful games that Capcom made for their CPS-1 board, are here.
The first game is the Midnight Wanderers, and guys look at these wonderful GRAPHICS!!! They definitely put the CPS-1 on limit to have so much detail. It is a run and gun game, very likely Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug.
The game follows that 80's/90's style, be short but coins stealer, and even having several power ups of weapons, I didn't feel a significant difference on them. The cool thing is that the protagonists are Hobbits, and I really felt an air of Middle Earth in the game design!
The Hobbits' goal is to save their friend who has been transformed into a statue by the "terrible" Gaia. And well, the beast is simply a globe with hands actually, very creative but not scary at all. Unfortunately the game is very short, 20 min you beat it. I highly recommend playing..
The end of the first game links with the second. Chariot, Adventure Through The Sky, is a shoot-'em-up with the same protagonist Hobbits (Lou and Siva). The goal here is once again save a girl. A princess who was kidnapped by Lar, the new villain!
We are talking again about a shoot 'em up right? I have nothing more to say about the mechanics of this genre. However, I have to praise the beauty of this game, like the previous one. Just in some parts there is a visual pollution, but nothing to worry.
The bosses from the both games are very creative and detailed. In fact I believe this series was born ahead of its time, something better only happen in Astal, a game released in 1995 for the Sega Saturn, which was a very superior machine!
And in the end Capcom leave a message that probably this game will have a sequel. I hope have already released because I really want to play it!
The last one is Don't Pull, a game NOTHING to do with the previous ones! It's very similar to the classic Higemaru, where you have to kill enemies by throwing blocks at them.
The more you advance, faster the enemies become, until you reach a point that is literally impossible to play without dying. The best strategy to beat is to run away from the enemies, eventually they will escape and you'll clear the stage, lol.
I was thinking this game was endless and I didn't beat it on stream, to tell you the truth I got through all 32 stages now that I'm writing this review xD
The funny thing is that none of these games have been released alone, there is only this bundle version, even in the classic Capcom collection for the PS2, it is 3 Wonders. I'm hoping they already made a new adventure form the Capcom Hobbits!
